Major Garrett on Fox's New Seat
We asked Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Major Garrett for his take on Fox's new seat in the White House Press Briefing Room. Here's what he had to say:
First of all, the seat is not and never has been about me.
The seat is Fox's, not mine or Wendell Goler's or Mike Emanuel's. Covering the White House is a huge job and a bigger responsibility.Moving to the front row doesn't change that - it only changes our vantage point toward the podium and our rotation in questioning (we'll be called on earlier).
Other than that, nothing changes. We must get the story right, be aggressive in that pursuit and scrupulously fair and accurate in the telling.
That's the key.
All of us who cover the White House are honored to move up one row. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. We are duty-bound to live up to their track record.
