Born on Feb. 21, 1955 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Grammer was raised in New Jersey and Florida after his parents divorced when he was two.
Grammer moved to NYC to attend Juilliard; was expelled after two years.
Grammer Performed for three years at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego in the late 1970s.
1984 Joined the cast of the NBC sitcom “Cheers” as Dr. Frasier Crane in the third season.
Grammer earned Emmy (1988, 1990) nominations for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Cheers.
Provided the voice of Sideshow Bob on “The Simpsons”.
1993 – Frasier premiers. Grammer would play Frasier Crane for 20 years, from 1984 to 2004.
In September 1996, after being involved in a traffic accident, Grammer checked into the Betty Ford Clinic.
Grammer became the highest salaried actor on TV beginning in fall 2002, when he signed a deal to receive a reported $1.6 million per episode of “Frasier” (NBC).
Grammer has the distinction of being the first actor to receive Emmy nominations for performances as the same character over three different seasons in three different shows. He garnered two Emmy nods for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series playing Dr. Frasier Crane on “Cheers” (NBC) and one in 1992 for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for a guest shot as a vacationing Dr. Crane on “Wings” (NBC).
2010 – Made his Broadway musical debut in the revival of “La Cage aux Folles” at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre; earned a Tony Award nomination for Leading Actor in a Musical.
Grammer’s other T.V. series include “Back to You” and “Hank”.
Grammer’s film roles include “15 Minutes” and “X-Men: The Last Stand”.
Grammer has won five emmys (4 for Frasier; 1 for The Simpsons).
Role in Politics
Played the U.S. president in the film “Swing Vote” (2008)
Sept. 2004 – Grammer said his post-Fraisier plans might include running for office as a Republican.
Said he refused to watch the Oscars in 2003 because of the antiwar “crap” he knew he’d see at the podium.
