Netanyahu: It's Time for President Abbas to Say 'I Will Accept a Jewish State'
In an address to a joint meeting of Congress moments ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed negotiating a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine, saying “President Abbas must do what I have done. I stood before my people, and I told you it wasn’t easy, I stood before my people and I said ‘I will accept a Palestinian state.’ It’s time for President Abbas to stand before his people and say ‘I will accept a Jewish state.’” Netanyahu said that act would convince Israelis they have a true partner for peace and would then be prepared for far-reaching compromises. Netanyahu maintained that Israel would not return to the 1967 borders, saying,”We'll be generous about the size of the future Palestinian state, but as President Obama said, "The border will be different than the one that existed on June 4, 1967." Israel will not return to the indefensible boundaries of 1967.”
