Former Leader of Egypt Hosni Mubarak Wheeled Into Court on Gurney
Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was wheeled into the courtroom for his trial by a gurney, where he faces the death penalty for killing almost 800 pro-democracy demonstrators. It has been just six months since he was forced out of Egyptian office. Reportedly, the former leader is so sick that he can’t even sit up.
He is lying in an iron cage that is there to protect him from getting hurt by bystanders.
New video shows demonstrators outside Mubarak’s trial began throwing stones at each other. Soon after police had to intervene and break up the violent outbursts.
Exactly how sick is the former president? Reena Ninan tells Fox and Friends, “We do know that he does have a heart condition and two weeks ago his attorneys confirmed that he has cancer, but it actually wasn’t enough to prevent him from going to court today. The house ministry was able to confirm that he was healthy enough to stand trial.” She reports saying that if the court proceedings continue Mubarak will remain in a hospital in Cairo.
