In the Iowa GOP Debate in Ames, Iowa, Rep. Michele Bachmann was asked to respond to a comment in which she said she “hated the idea of studying tax law.” She also went on to say that women should be submissive to their husbands.

Bachmann responded, saying she and her husband, Marcus, respect each other.

“Marcus and I will be married 30 years coming this September. Submission means respect,” she said. “I respect my husband and he respects me as his wife. We respect each other and love each other. We have five wonderful children and 23 foster children, and I am very proud of him.”
