PETA Blasts Fishing With Controversial New Ad Showing Dog Hooked By Fishing Line, President Says "All Fish Feel Pain"
A Florida mother whose son survived a shark attack last week is now claiming that a new PETA ad is over the top. The ad reads, “Payback Is Hell. Go Vegan," and shows a picture of a shark with a human leg dangling out of his mouth. The victim is lucky to be alive, being given 800 stitches after a bull shark took a bite out of his leg and caused extensive bleeding during a recent fishing trip.

President of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Ingrid Newkirk says, “He was out to kill animals and just because they’re fish doesn’t mean they don’t feel pain. The point is, whether you're eating fish, standing at the seafood buffet, or you’re setting out to hook them or spear them, maybe it's time to have a second thought and not be surprised when some fish gets you back.”
She talks about another controversial ad that PETA is releasing, showing a gory image of a dog pierced in his mouth by a hook, and reading, “If You Wouldn’t Do This to a Dog, Why Do It to a Fish?” She tells Martha that if people are horrified by that visual, they should feel the same about the killing of fish. “We understand pain in dogs. We need start understanding that all the studies show that fish feel pain.”
