Shipwreck With 20 Tons of Silver Discovered Off Coast of Ireland
After being sunk by a German torpedo nearly one century ago off the coast of Ireland, a British ship carrying 20 tons of silver is set to be dug up early this spring. The treasure buried within the vessel is valued at $18 million.
Odyssey Marine Exploration, a company based
in Florida, discovered the cargo last month. This most recent find follows closely on the heels of an even more lucrative discovery after the same company uncovered a cargo buried deep within the ocean worth more than $200 million.
Eighty percent of the shipwrecked goods' value goes to Odyssey, the other 20 percent to the British government.
