WATCH: Wim "Iceman" Hof Set Record for Full Body Ice Immersion on Guinness World Records Day
What better way to celebrate Guinness World Records Day then by setting a record yourself? A Norwegian man known as Wim "Iceman" Hof came all the way to New York City to do just that.
Hof put himself to the test, seeing how long he could withstand 'full-body ice immersion'; the previous world record was set at 1 hour, 51 minutes and 10 seconds. Today, a shivering and well, slightly blue Hof clocked in at 1 hour, 52 minutes and 42 seconds!
Mr. Guinness himself was
on hand for the record-breaking event, which drew the attention of many a by-stander outside of our studio in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
After Hof knew he had cleared the record, he immediately plunged into a Columbia-provided hot tub filled with warm water. Now, there's a record we'd be willing to sign up to break: longest time soaking in hot tub.
