Mitt Romney to Bret Baier: I Think I Stand By Far The Best Shot of Replacing President Obama
On Monday, The New Hampshire Union Leader, the largest newspaper in New Hampshire, officially endorsed Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination. The publisher called Gingrich an innovative guy and said, “You want somebody who’s going to say what he thinks, not what he thinks you want him to say,” which he later admitted referred to Mitt Romney.
GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney joined Bret Baier on Special Report to discuss that endorsement. Romney admits that the Union leaders have never been happy with him so he wasn’t so surprised. He said, “I believe that my views are essential to get this country going again, so, no problem with Newt Gingrich, good man, but very different person than I am based on our life experiences.”
“I think I stand by far the best shot of replacing President Obama among the Republicans in the field,” he said. “I think you have to have the credibility of understanding how the economy works, and I do and that’s one reason why I’m in this race.”
In discussing Romney's plan for America, Mitt said, "The plan we did in Massachusetts had many features that I thought should be adopted by the states. I thought there were very good ideas in there, they could be a model for the entire United States."
