Controversial Design: Do South Korean Towers Resemble Twin Tower Collapse on 9/11?
Controversy surrounds the design for two 60-story towers in South Korea because they look eerily similar to the twin towers collapsing on 9/11.
It's the middle of the planned towers - which designers refer to as "the cloud" - that has most people doing a double-take. "The Cloud" consists of a series of restaurants, swimming pools and fitness centers jutting out from the main structure in a way that looks comparable to the moment the World Trade Centers exploded.
The Dutch architectural firm, MVRDV, said in a statement, “It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks, nor did we see the resemblance during the design process. We
sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings we have hurt.” However, conflicting reports are surfacing saying that one spokesperson recognized the link.
