Christmas Controversy: Atheist Displays Push Nativity Scenes Out of Santa Monica, California Park
A coalition of Christian churches in Santa Monica, California is outraged because atheist displays have taken over a park historically filled with Nativity scenes during the holiday season.
This year, the city of Santa Monica allocated the spots in Palisades Park through a lottery system. The Christian group put in one bid and got two spots. The atheist group put in 11 bids and got 18 spots.
The atheists have only put up two signs and three potted plants in all of their 18 spots, so it appears that they weren’t really intending to use the space, but really just wanted to make sure that the Christians did not use the space.
