Competing Theories: Serial Killer(s) on Long Island?

Fox News Channel’s Jenna Lee has been investigating a murder mystery slowly unfolding on Long Island, N.Y. With another body turning up this week believed to be that of missing woman Shannan Gilbert, new theories are emerging as to who may be responsible for her death, and the possible connection to 10 other bodies discovered in the same area.

Dr. Michael Baden, Forensic Pathologist and Fox News contributor, and Pat Brosnan former NYPD Homicide Detective have competing theories and explained them to Jenna.

Baden believes that there is one serial killer acting alone. He says there is just too much coincidence in all these bodies turning up in the thick weeds and bramble near Oak Beach, Long Island. “There are lots of places to dump bodies, and I’ve investigated a number of serial murders, and I’ve never seen two different serial murders dump bodies [in the same place] at the same time.”

Brosnan disagrees, and believes there are no solid connections to connect all the victims together. The former detective theorizes that this overgrown area in Long Island has become a popular “dumping area” for a range of killers to dispose of their victims.
