War Stories Sneak Peek: Father Reflects on Impact Son Had on Fellow Marines
Sunday at 9p ET, the War Stories team pays tribute to the sacrifices of our troops in Iraq in War Stories with Oliver North: A Tribute to Our Heroes Who Served in Iraq. The special revisits some of the heroes the team has met on the ground to see where they are now, and hear thoughts as the war comes to an end. Fox News Producer Greg Johnson provided the Insider with the following insight:
In the nearly nine years of combat in Iraq, War Stories has paid tribute to the great sacrifices of our troops in uniform as well as the sacrifices of their families back home. In October 2004, War Stories embedded with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines in the city of Ramadi, capital of Iraq’s Al Anbar province. There, we met Sgt. Kenneth Conde Jr,. An Orlando, Florida native, Sgt. Conde was a proud warrior
and beloved by men he led. Though wounded by a sniper's bullet in April 2004, he refused to leave Iraq, choosing instead to stay with his men. He told War Stories at the time, “There’s no other place for a Sgt in the United States Marine Corps.” On July 1, 2004, Sgt. Conde was killed by an improvised explosive device in Ramadi. At Marine Corps Headquarters in Quantico, VA, Oliver North spoke with Sgt. Conde’s father, Kenneth Conde Sr., about his son. More information about Sgt Conde Jr. can be found at www.condesway.com.
