According to Fox sources and local news services, fog and smoky conditions in Southeast Texas may have been to blame for a pileup Thursday morning involving dozens of vehicles near Port Arthur, Texas.
One report stated: “Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Rod Carroll says the string of accidents, involving at many as 40 vehicles, happened Thursday morning on Highway 73 just west of Port Arthur. Carroll says “multiple” people have been injured and at least 10 ambulances had been dispatched to the scene. Carroll says the accidents were caused “by poor visibility due to mixture of fog and smoke from marsh wildfires.” Fires this week in parts of Jefferson County swept through some dry marshlands. Further details on the accidents were not immediately available.”
