Lt. Col. Bill Cowan Questions the Timing of U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 Rescue, Says It Worked Out Just Great for President Obama
Earlier, Lt. Col. Bill Cowan joined Happening Now to discuss the most recent heroic fight fought by the U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6, the same team known for killing Usama bin Laden last year, that resulted in a successful rescuing of two hostages from Somali kidnappers.
Since he has a lot of experience with these kinds of forces, he said he has to question the timing of the mission. “To have it happen just as the State of the Union address is going out, you know, I’m not certain about that. Glad it worked successfully, but I question the timing.”
He continued, saying, “A raid like this really
depends on extremely good intelligence and sometimes lacking all the intelligence you need, you’ll make the decision to go ahead and conduct a raid because the hostages have already either been killed by the hostage takers or there’s reason to believe that the hostage takers are about to kill somebody – in this case, neither one of those circumstances exists.”
