On today’s America Live, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus responded to comments he had on CBS’s Face the Nation where he compared President Obama to Italian cruise ship Captain Francesco Schettino, which has left many critics outraged calling him “insensitive.”
Priebus told Megyn Kelly that when he made those comments he clearly used the analogy that this president was akin to leaving his own job and campaigning non-stop all the time because he’s worried about his job instead of the jobs of the millions of Americans out there.
“The reality is, it’s a fair analogy in regard to leadership in a moment of crisis that this president is more interested in his own job, a number one, than the millions of the Americans that are hurting out there.”
In discussing Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s comments on this issue, he responded, saying, “I was referring to the fact that this president is in love with campaigning and not in love with his job of getting our country back on track. Now, I think it’s awful people have died of course, terrible, and our prayers go out to those people without a question, but to take this comment and turn it into something that it was not, that’s wrong too.”
