Today marks 15 straight days of gas price increases across the country, and as prices continue to climb, many are wanting to find a person or thing to blame. But, is there really one cause for the upward movement? Matt McCall and Julie Roginsky had two very different takes on the hot-button issue.
“I don’t want to blame the current administration, but I kind of have to put some blame on them,” said McCall. McCall sited 2010′s oil spill in the Gulf, which prompted a drilling moratorium, as well as the shutdown of the Keystone Pipeline. “We shut down two major sources coming to us … so, now we not only have a supply issue, but now we have the issue over in the Middle East, as well.”
Roginsky, however, said Obama and the White House have little if nothing to do with the steady rise in costs. “If you want to blame somebody, you can blame Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,” she said. “This is a global issue; this is a global market. We’ve had more supply coming in domestically than we have in the last ten years.”
