Police Officers Receive Medal of Valor After Saving a Man From a Burning Car
Two officers are being honored today after rescuing a man from a burning car and saving his life. The car slammed into a utility pole, flipping the car and sparking a fire. The officers quickly realized the driver was trapped and unconscious. Sgt. Andrew Copeland said he and Officer Rodney Bamford were able
to un-wedge the man from the driver’s side as flames scorched nearby.
They received the city of Keizer, Oregon’s highest medal of valor for their bravery. Officer Bamford modestly said, “It’s part of our job. We’re not doing anything more than our troops are doing overseas or anywhere else.”
