Political Grapevine: Utah Vendors Waiting on Payment From Gingrich Campaign
On tonight's Special Report, Bret brought us all the latest news from the political grapevine. Newt Gingrich said recently of Fox News, "I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through ... we are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are out of Fox." However, since announcing his candidacy, the former Speaker has appeared on Fox News 106 times, 48 more times than Mitt Romney.
Officials in Utah are now confirming they received a $500 cashier's check from the Gingrich campaign. The campaign's first check to qualify for the primary there had bounced, which Gingrich called a "technical mistake" by the bank.
Vendors are still waiting to be paid by the campaign, which is said to be over $4 million in debt.
In other news, the police chief in Richlands, North Carolina has lost his gun and badge after failing an annual firearms exam. Though he's still on duty, he's not allowed to turn on the flashing lights on his cruiser or make traffic stops.
