Video: Marine Proposes to Girlfriend Upon Return From Afghanistan
Thirty-one Marines who have been serving in Afghanistan since September were greeted by loved ones as they returned to New Haven, Connecticut over the weekend. But Sarah Krzynowek got more than a hug when her boyfriend, Lance Cpl. Matt Bodnar got down on one knee and proposed!
The happy couple joined Fox and Friends this morning and told their love story. Krzynowek said that while the two had talked about getting married sometime soon, she didn’t expect it to happen in that moment at all.
Bodnar, who bought the ring before he left for his deployment, told us about his proposal plan, saying, “By the time they were finished making it, or whatnot, I was already gone so my parents had to mail it to me out in Afghanistan so I could get on one knee the first time I saw her when I got back.”
Apparently Bodnar had a crush on Krzynowek for years, saying, “Believe it or not, it sounds really corny, but really like the first time I met her, I developed a crush on her and it was just downhill from there!”
Bodnar described the moment of the proposal, saying that his fellow Marines pushed him off the bus first and he immediately starting looking for his family and Krzynowek, “Then, as soon as I saw her, I gave her a huge hug, got down on one knee.” Krzynowek said she didn’t even have a chance to say yes because she was “just balling the whole time. As soon as I saw him, I was just sobbing.”
The two plan to wed soon.
