SWAT Teams Surround Bunker Where 'Survivalist' Wanted in Killings of Wife and Daughter May Be Hiding
Police are in a standoff with a man suspected of killing his wife and daughter. Casey Stegall reported that law enforcement believes the suspect is hiding in an elaborate underground bunker that he built. They have seen and heard movement from inside in the hillside hideout in North Bend near Seattle.
Peter Keller is a 41-year-old self-trained survivalist who was preparing for “the end of the world.” Last week, he was charged after shooting and killing his wife and 19-year-old teenage daughter. Police say he then set the house on fire to cover his tracks.
According to investigators, the fortified bunker took Keller eight years to build
and has ladders, multiple entry points, and possibly a generator inside. To no avail, SWAT teams dropped tear gas in hopes of forcing Keller out. Now they are considering flooding the bunker, knowing that he may be heavily armed dangerous.
Update, 1:25p ET -- A body believed to be that of double murder suspect Peter Keller was found Saturday inside a fortified survivalist bunker in Washington state, the Seattle Times reported.
