EMOTIONAL VIDEO: Inspirational 9-Year-Old Tries Out Her New ‘Running’ Legs

After losing her legs as an infant, nine-year-old Haven Shepherd recently ran for the first time with her new prosthetic legs. She lost her legs when her birth parents strapped bombs to themselves while holding her in their arms in her native Vietnam. This unbelievable accident clearly didn’t ruin Haven's spirit, however.

Shepherd spoke about her determination, saying, “I don’t really care if I have prosthetics or not.

My mom taught me the saying, ‘It really doesn’t matter if you have fake legs or real. Everyone will fall down, but getting up's the big deal.’”
