Actor & Comedian Jon Lovitz Says People Are Thanking Him for Speaking Out Against Obama's Tax Policies
Jon Lovitz recently lashed out at President Obama’s tax policies during a podcast with director Kevin Smith. He said, “This whole thing with Obama saying the rich don’t pay their taxes is f****** b*** s***. And I voted for the guy and I am a Democrat! What a f******* a******.”
On today’s America Live, Jon Lovitz explained that he meant everything he said in that viral video. While Lovitz understands that Americans may not care what he thinks about taxes, he pointed out, “Apparently, I said what a lot of people are thinking and a lot of people have thanked me.”
The comedian hasn’t received any push back from Hollywood since these comments, in fact, he said the opposite has happened. He told Megyn Kelly that many people from Tinseltown have thanked him for making the comments because they feel that they are being vilified because of their success.
While Lovitz describes the president as “amazing,” he thinks Obama shouldn’t be insinuating that wealthy people are taking things from others. He clarified, “I didn’t take anything from anyone – first of all. Second of all, I opened a comedy club with money that I saved over 25 years. I created jobs.”
“I would never tell anyone who to vote for,” he said. “I’m a different kind of ‘liberal’ and I think people should be true to themselves. If you’re Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, you should be true to yourself and be who you are.”
