Florida Lowers the Bar for Students in FCAT Writing Test
After many students failed a FCAT writing test in Florida, an emergency rule was adopted Tuesday that will lower the passing grade for the standardized writing test to keep the failure rate about the same as last year after preliminary results showed it would have dramatically increased otherwise.
The co-hosts of The Five reacted with Greg Gutfeld saying this is the fault of two phenomenons colliding, the self-esteem movement and teachers’ unions, and thinks if you put those together you have an “education that can’t teach a dog to bark.”
Eric Bolling agreed on that point saying that if they are going to lower the bar, maybe this is just a way for schools to beef up their numbers for money. “It’s not doing our kids any good,” he added.
