Obama Campaign Goes After Romney For Trump Connection; Should Romney Speak Out Against Birther Issue?
Earlier this week, Mitt Romney met with Donald Trump for a fundraiser in Las Vegas. Democrats have seized that opportunity to link Romney and Trump because Mr. Trump continues to say that President Obama may not have been born in the United States. A new Obama campaign web ad demonstrates the differences between how former GOP candidate John McCain and Mitt Romney have handled the president’s background but substitutes clips of Romney for Trump.
Dick Morris weighed in on the issue tonight on The O’Reilly Factor.
Bill O’Reilly asked Morris if Romney should comment on Trump’s stance on the birther issue. Morris answered, “I do believe that it’s a marginal issue and Romney’s right for passing it by because if he focused on it Obama would make the whole election about that. You should have qualifications other than just having been born in the U.S.”
