NY Times' Jeff Zeleny: If Walker Survives, Unions Lose Big
Bret Baier was in downtown Madison, Wisconsin at Mickies Dairy Bar where he was joined by a panel to discuss tomorrow’s recall election. The New York Times’ national political correspondent Jeff Zeleny said, “My sense is that more people are engaged in this than you can really even imagine. It’s the intensity and the scale of a presidential campaign, just within the confines of Wisconsin.”
Zeleny said he was struck by the fact that voters in Wisconsin have been more reserved about voicing their opinions about what they think but, he continued, “It’s a very close race. It seems that Governor Walker
has a bit of an edge here but it’s all about who’s going to come out and vote tomorrow.”
He added, “If Democrats are not successful on Tuesday, if Governor Walker survives this recall attempt, it is without a doubt going to be a big loser for unions. They’re going to have spent a lot money, they already have and there’s already some second guessing right now and I think rightly so … If Democrats lose, I think no question the labor loses and loses big.”
