O’Reilly’s Talking Points Memo: Vicious Battle Between Left and Right in Wisconsin Comes Down to Ideology
The topic of tonight’s Talking Points Memo was the vicious battle between liberals and conservatives that is brewing in Wisconsin. Bill O’Reilly reminded viewers how the recall election came about. It started in March 2011 when Governor Scott Walker (R) signed a law eliminating most collective bargaining rights for Wisconsin state employees.
O’Reilly said, “You may remember the left went wild, protesting vehemently against the new law. There was even vandalism at the state house. Liberals very angry because if Republican governors can show they’ll get budgets under control by limiting compensation to state workers, then that will happen all over the country.”
He continued, “In order to punish Governor Walker, the Democratic Party issued a recall
… and the final judgment will be made tomorrow.”

O’Reilly believes the stakes are very high for President Obama because he does not want to constrain union bargaining power. However, he said Gov. Walker has a pretty good story to tell and pointed out that, “When he took office in January 2011 Wisconsin unemployment stood at 7.7 percent, now it’s down to 6.7 percent.”
What does the vote really come down to? That would be ideology, O’Reilly explained, “because the left doesn’t like him so they want to throw him out.” He added, “It’s not so much about Walker himself. It’s about the message that will be sent: big spending, big government versus tough measures when it comes to taxpayer dollars.”
