Why Hasn’t Obama Campaigned for Wisconsin’s Tom Barrett?

Tuesday, Wisconsin voters head to the polls to vote in the recall election between Governor Scott Walker and his opponent, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. While it’s thought the recall, which is being held in response to Governor Walker’s push to get unions and massive pension costs under control, will have a large impact on the presidential election, President Obama hasn’t campaigned for Democrat Tom Barrett.

Tom Barrett says that he’s gotten plenty of support from the Obama campaign. He said, “I have not asked him to come out here. Obviously, I understand he’s running a country and he has his own campaign. I will say that his administration has been supportive in that his campaign apparatus has been helpful with volunteers.”
