Boston-Area Landlady Allegedly Refuses to Rent to Veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan Wars
A woman in the Boston area has a two-bedroom apartment she is looking to rent out, but one applicant didn’t make the cut. Sgt. Joel Morgan, a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, applied for the apartment, but the woman, reportedly a peace activist, allegedly said that she wouldn’t rent to him because he was a member of the National Guard.
Sgt. Morgan is now suing the woman. He expressed his shock at the alleged discrimination, saying, “Really, I am not going to be able to rent an apartment because I’m a combat vet? I was sort of suffering from PTSD and it sort of reopened some issues.” He continued, “I personally hope with everything that’s happening right now that she’s exposed. That people like her are exposed, that situations like this, which do occur are brought to light.”
