HBO Documentary ‘41’ Takes a Closer Look Into the Man Behind the Presidency, George H. W. Bush
The new HBO documentary “41” chronicles the life of former President George H. W. Bush. In an exclusive interview, the producer of the documentary Jerry Weintraub sat down with Sean Hannity to provide some inside scoop on the life of the 41st president.
The producer has known him for close to 50 years and told the remarkable story of how they met. He told Hannity that their relationship started when he moved to Kennebunkport, Maine. He went to join a tennis club at which the Bush’s were members, but wasn’t permitted to join because of his Jewish heritage.
Weintraub’s wife happened to know George H. W. Bush growing up, and soon after he got a call from Bush who invited him to play tennis with his family and helped him get a membership. More than just helping someone join a club, as Hannity pointed out, it shows the character of the man he is.
In one clip, President Bush expresses the emotions and pride he felt when his son was elected president. Weintraub said President Bush always wells up when he thinks about seeing his son become president.
