Police Search For Shooting Suspect Desmonte Leonard; Confirm Auburn University Football Players Among Victims
Elizabeth Prann reported from Auburn, Alabama where three people are dead and three more injured after a shooting broke out at a pool party last night. It happened at an off-campus apartment complex near Auburn University and officials have confirmed that two of the victims are former Auburn football players.
Police are now on a manhunt for murder suspect Desmonte Leonard and believe he may be in Montgomery County. He has been charged with capital murder in the deaths of former Auburn University football players Edward Christian and Ladarious Phillips. Leonard allegedly shot and injured current football player Eric Mack.
There are two other persons of interest
but they haven’t released their names. Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson said they do know a motive but they aren’t releasing that either, though he says that will come out in the courtroom. Witnesses said earlier that the shooting happened as a result of a fight that broke out over a woman at party.
