Reported Yacht Explosion Off Coast of New Jersey Could Be a Hoax
The U.S. Coast Guard reported that someone called in a yacht explosion off the coast of New Jersey. Shepard Smith said so far officials haven’t been able to confirm it. Emergency crews and choppers responded to the scene about 17 miles off the coast of Sandy Hook. Initial reports claim 21 people went overboard after the blast and nine of them injured. Chopper crews haven’t found anyone at the scene where the ship supposedly went down and medical choppers have now left the scene.
Update, 7:52p ET: Shepard Smith reported that a U.S. Coast Guard official says the whole explosion could be a hoax. They have found no evidence of an explosion, and the Coast Guard said the boat that supposedly blew up may not even exist.
