George Zimmerman's Wife, Shellie, Charged With Perjury
George Zimmerman’s wife was briefly locked up today in the same jail where her husband is behind bars. Shellie Zimmerman was arrested on perjury charges after she was accused of lying to a judge about family finances in order to get her husband a lesser bond. She posted her $1,000 bond and is now out of jail.
During George Zimmerman’s bond hearing back in April, Shellie testified that she didn’t know how much money was donated to his defense fund through his “Justice for George”
website. In fact, the family had received about $135,000 in donations and prosecutors say that Shellie knew about it days before. Bank records show she transferred money from her husband’s account eight different times, totaling $74,958. There is a new bond hearing for George Zimmerman, who has been charged in the murder of Trayvon Martin, in two weeks.
