Former Gabby Giffords Aide Ron Barber Wins Arizona Special Election to Fill Her Seat

Tuesday, Democrat Ron Barber defeated Republican Jesse Kelly in an Arizona special election for the House seat previously held by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

The former Giffords aide had Gabby standing by his side while he addressed voters, saying, “Gabby is my friend and she is an inspiration to all of us … Gabby we love you and we are so grateful for your leadership and dedication to our community.”

Giffords resigned a year after she was shot in the head while meeting with constituents at a Tucson shopping center.
