Peter Johnson, Jr. Stresses the Need for Independent Counsel in the Fast and Furious Scandal and Intelligence Leaks
Attorney General Eric Holder is in the hot seat over the botched gunrunning operation known as Fast and Furious and the security leak probe. Yesterday, Senator Cornyn joined other lawmakers in their frustration over this issue and asked Holder to resign.
Peter Johnson, Jr. weighed in on yesterday’s showdown on Capitol Hill, saying that this is a real crisis of confidence given that both the House and the Senate are asking for Holder’s resignation.
He said that while Holder should give up the requested documents associated with the Fast and Furious scandal, what we're saying now is a typical political standoff.
Johnson went on to say that he thinks there has to be an independent counsel to investigate this because it needs to be done properly. He added, “How can the White House essentially investigate itself?”
