Sen. Mitch McConnell: Obama Administration is Working to Silence Critics and Limit Free Speech
Sen. Mitch McConnell is one GOP lawmaker who has come down on hard in levying allegations against the president and his administration for 'working to silence critics and limit free speech protections under the First Amendment.'
While McConnell said it's the natural temptation of anybody in power to silence his or her critics, he believes this administration's attempts go much further, with David Axelrod stating yesterday that Obama wants to 'amend the First Amendment.'
"This would
carve a niche out of the First Amendment saying that it's possible for the government to control political speech," said McConnell.
"It's quite Nixonian," he said, to find a group of people trying to arrest and silence critics, "and I think they need to be called on it."
what evidence does he say he has to back up those claims?
