Rep. Issa Agrees to Postpone Contempt Vote If AG Holder Hands Over DOJ Documents
Congressman Darrell Issa said he is willing to postpone the contempt of Congress vote against Attorney General Eric Holder, if the Department of Justice hands over additional documents in the Fast and Furious operation. Peter Doocy reported that the documents requested must show how and when the DOJ realized their agents were using a tactic called gun-walking, allowing weapons to fall into the hands of those who murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
Yesterday, Rep. Issa wrote in a statement, “While I do have substantial concerns that these documents may not be sufficient to allow the committee to complete its investigation, delivery of these documents before the scheduled consideration of contempt at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 would be sufficient to justify
the postponement of the proceeding to allow for the review of the material.”

In response, DOJ spokesperson Tracy Schmaler said, “We are pleased that Chairman Issa has agreed to our request to meet next week and we look forward to a productive session. It is in the best interest of all parties to bring this matter to a final resolution by avoiding a confrontation that involves contempt.”
