Christi Paul Details Her Struggle With an Abusive Marriage, Discusses New Book, ‘Love Isn’t Supposed to Hurt,’ on Fox and Friends
On the surface, it looked like Christi Paul had it all – the happy marriage, a job as a famous TV journalist, and more. In reality, everything was not as it seemed. CNN anchor and author of ‘Love Isn’t Supposed to Hurt’ Christi Paul stopped by the Fox and Friends curvy couch this morning to discuss her new book and the abuse she suffered during her marriage.
Paul explained to Juliet Huddy, in for Gretchen Carlson, that she wrote the book to not only help women out there, but also men who are being abused in any kind of relationship. Although Paul doesn’t name her ex-husband, she said that the verbal abuse she experienced from him started on her wedding night.
She said, “The verbal abuse kept escalating to the horrible name calling, and by the time you’re done, you just feel so worthless and so hopeless. I hit a point where I realized I’m either going to be a zombie walking through the rest of my life like this, because you shut down, or I’m going to take a chance.”
Paul shared some advice to anyone suffering abuse, saying, “It’s not okay what’s happening to you, but it’s not okay that you let it wreck you because you were not born to be abused.”
