Cambridge Mayor Proposes Soda Ban Similar to Bloomberg's NYC Measure
After New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed legislation to ban super-sized soft drinks, another city wants in. Now, Henrietta Davis, the mayor of Cambridge, Mass. has proposed a similar measure and is hoping it gets passed.
Bloomberg's proposal wasn't quite the "hit" he'd hoped in the Big Apple, however, leaving some to wonder how Davis's bill will do in Massachusetts. Davis told the city council that she wants to ban all large soft drinks because the sugary sodas contribute to obesity, as well as diabetes, heart disease, and the list goes on. Local officials agreed to first have a sub-committee take a closer look at the measure before taking a vote on an all-out ban.
