INCREDIBLE STORY: Florida Teen Survives Being Shot in the Head With a Speargun
A teenager is now making a miraculous recovery after being shot in the head with a speargun. While 16-year-old Yasser Lopez was fishing with friends, a speargun, being loaded by one of his friends, accidentally fired and the spear struck Lopez in the head.
The spear went through his skull, one inch above his right eye, and went all the way through the right hemisphere of his brain. Lopez had to be transported to the hospital via helicopter, and Phil Keating reports that doctors had to clamp the spear in place while Lopez was in transit so as not to do any further damage. They then had to use a re-bar tool to cut the spear down so that Lopez could fit into a CAT scan machine. Fortunately, the scan showed that the spear’s placement did not impact any major blood vessels.

Doctors said, “It was possible for us to figure out the strategy during the operation to be able to unscrew the tip of the spear, instead of having to get this whole spear dragged out through his brain.”
Keating reports that Lopez begins rehab this week, which will take about three months to complete.
