Bachmann Takes on Obamacare
Michele Bachmann weighs in on the high court’s battle over the health care law, tonight at 10p/ 1a ET on On the Record!
From Fox News Insider: How Will Supreme Court Ruling on Health Care Overhaul Affect Your Next Visit to the Doctor?
As we wait for the Supreme Court ruling on President Obama’s health care law, many are wondering is how it will affect their next trip to the doctor.
Although the ruling will not be announced today, Dr. Marc Siegel told Bill Hemmer that he believes the Supreme Court will most likely rule that the health care mandate is unconstitutional, but that the rest of the law will stand. If that happens, Siegel believes
it will lead to a 10 to 30 percent increase in premiums.
“If you get rid of the individual mandate, which is kind of a trick for insurance companies to be able to afford this … premiums are going to go up as the insurance companies struggle to cover people with pre-existing conditions, cover the kids up to the age of 26, all the bells and whistles,” Siegel said.
“The insurance companies are going to transfer those costs onto the patients and also cut doctors fees.”
If the whole entire law is struck down, which Siegel believes is unlikely, he said he thinks we’ll then go back to where we started – looking for solutions.
He also discussed the eventuality that the whole law is ruled constitutional, saying, “It’s a huge entitlement at a time when we’re facing potentially another recession when extending this kind of insurance to more and more people is ultimately going to be on the back of the taxpayer because of all the subsidies that are occurring at the state exchanges. People are going to end up leaving employer-based insurance and go to the state exchanges and have to pay out of pocket for individual health care.”
