Rep. Allen West on ObamaCare Tax: There’s Been a Deception Against the American People
New questions have arisen over the Supreme Court's health care ruling and whether the law would’ve passed if it was initially pitched as a tax.
Yesterday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was asked about why the individual mandate constituted a tax, she answered, “The court has upheld the legislation. I think, and I have to see the specific language, that they identified with how we wrote the bill in the House as part of the documentation for the decision. Call it what you will, it is a step forward for America’s families, and you know what, take yes for an answer. This is a very good thing for the American people.”
Earlier on America’s Newsroom, Congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) shared reaction, saying that Pelosi is somewhat “delusional,” but said we have to remember that she is the person that said that in order to read the bill they had to pass it. “There’s been a deception against the American people from the onset.”
“The president said that this was not a tax, now we know that it is only Constitutional because it is seen as a tax,” West continued. “This was a horrific decision that was made yesterday because, basically, it’s granting unprecedented taxation authority to the federal government.”
West discussed the 2012 election and asserted that the only way for the Affordable Care Act to be taken off the table, is for Obama to leave the White House.
