U.K. on High Alert After 6 Were Arrested in Suspected Terror Plot Near Olympic Park
By FNC Reporter Greg Palkot
With just three weeks to go before the Olympics Games, authorities tell us they are on high alert for possible terrorism. Events today indicate that they are ready to move.
Six people were arrested today linked to, according to officials, “international Islamist terrorism.” While they also stressed the raids were not directly linked to planned attacks on the Games, three of those arrested were found a mile from the Olympic Park in east London. Sister network Sky News’ Martin Brunt says that the operations could be moved up because of the Olympics.
And there was a terror scare north of London. A passenger on board an inter-city bus outside of Birmingham called police and reported that he saw a fellow passenger reach into a bag that vapor was coming out of, triggering a mammoth response: the bus was stopped by police, the highway was shut down, an officer in a hazmat shut examined the bus, all passengers were searched, and bomb disposal teams, fire engines and emergency squads were sent to the scene.
It turned out the smoke was coming from an health aid electronic cigarette used by folks trying to stop smoking.
Today's incidents backing up at the very least what we’ve been hearing: the terror alert here is high.
