Bill O’Reilly: Why America Is Heading in the Wrong Direction
A new poll from ABC News found that two-thirds of Americans believe the United States is on the wrong track. Breaking down numbers, Bill O’Reilly reported that out of the 1,000 people surveyed, 63 percent believe the country is not headed in the right direction. One group that liked the state of the union are liberal Democrats, with 66 percent approving of the country’s direction.
O’Reilly said in his Talking Points Memo that, “The liberal statistic isn’t surprising. President Obama and the Democrats have changed the direction of the country. As we reported yesterday, in just three years, President Obama has increased the federal workforce 10 times as much as President Reagan did in eight years. Also, the president is promoting a variety of nanny state programs which liberals love.”
The economy serves as the primary reason many Americans are struggling. “It’s not getting better. People are frightened. Many American workers understand if they lose their jobs, their lives are likely to collapse,” O’Reilly said, adding, “By the way, scared voters don’t usually
reelect incumbent politicians.”
President Obama does have a likeability factor, far outpolling Mitt Romney on a personal level, and therefore he can’t be ruled out of the equation, says O’Reilly. The economy isn’t the only thing hindering America’s prosperity, according to the Factor host, who went on to attribute a social change among the country’s problems.
O’Reilly said young Americans today are dependent and maybe even addicted to technology. Many of you are surely reading this post on a computer or mobile device -- so you may be asking yourselves, why is that a problem, Bill? His answer: “When you have millions of citizens living in fantasy worlds, generated by personal computers, you have a distracted country.”

He went on to liken this social decline to the “corrupt and apathetic” population that resulted in the collapse of Ancient Rome. While O’Reilly doesn’t believe America is close to collapse, he does warn that we are in trouble. “If President Obama is reelected the national debt could rise more than $20 trillion dollars before he leaves office.”
O’Reilly concluded the memo by saying, “While President Obama rails against the wealthy, it is the affluent who are carrying the vast financial burden in this country. All in all, these are not good days for the most powerful country on Earth, and some cynics believe we will not hold that mantle much longer.”
