Department of Transportation Tells Veterans to Take Down Flags
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is asking the Veterans of Foreign Wars to take down all the flags they have posted on overpasses, citing concerns for passing motorists. The veterans however disagree, saying that this violates their right to display the flag.
Lee Ulferts from the Palmer Lake VFW said that the flags were originally put up in 2004 in honor of the 34th Brigade serving in Iraq. A spokesman for the Minnesota DOT said, “This has absolutely nothing to do with the American flag.
It has has to do with any objects place on a bridge.”
