Manhunt Underway for Gunman Who Wounded at Least 17 People in Shooting Near University of Alabama
At least 17 people were wounded, at least two of them critically, when a gunman opened fire on a crowd outside a bar near the University of Alabama in downtown Tuscaloosa. Witnesses say there were close to 100 people outside at the time.
"All we saw was sparks," one witness said. "We never saw the guy shooting ... I felt something hit me, then we all took off and sort of hid."

Police Chief Steve Anderson told The Associated Press that the gunman fired first through a window, then shot at people outside as they fled the bar. He said the gunman never went inside during the assault early Tuesday.
