Judge Napolitano on Needles Found in Delta Flight Sandwiches: This Wasn't an Accident
There are questions today about the needles found in sandwiches on Delta Airlines flights that originated in Amsterdam. There are criminal investigations underway to get to the bottom of the incident. Could Delta be sued?
Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano discussed what happens next in the case on America’s Newsroom. He explained that the FBI, in conjunction with foreign authorities, will look to see who had the means and the opportunity to put these needles in the food.
He continued, “When you eat food, the provider of the food is what’s called strictly liable
, meaning if you’re injured you don’t have to demonstrate how the needle got in there, you just have to demonstrate that you bought the food and the food injured you.”
Napolitano discussed the other harm that comes with this, saying, “This could be some attempt to interfere with international transportation. That’s why the Federal Bureau of Investigation is involved.” He doesn’t think this whole incident appears to be terrorism, but said it appears it could possibly be a disgruntled employee from Delta or the food company.
He added, “This wasn’t an accident. There are too many of these needles.”
