Martin Family Attorney Responds to Hannity's Interview With George Zimmerman
Tonight on Hannity, one of the Martin family attorneys appeared on the show to respond to Sean Hannity’s sit-down interview with George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin. Hannity asked Zimmerman if he had any regrets and if he thought he would be here had he done anything differently. Zimmerman replied, “I feel that it was all God’s plan…”
Trayvon Martin’s parents appeared on Fox and Friends this morning. His father, Tracy Martin said, “I don’t understand what he was thinking by saying it was ‘God’s plan’ that he murdered our child, and I really don’t understand what God he worships because it’s not the same God that I worship.”
Attorney Daryl Parks said on Hannity tonight, “I think for [Zimmerman] to inject ‘God’s plan’ into the situation – certainly was not in God’s plan for an unarmed teenager to be killed in the situation, so that’s what made it so difficult for them, that he kind of tries to downplay
it as being God’s plan when it was his actions that took Trayvon’s life.”
Parks continued, “One of the problems that Trayvon’s parents have always had about this situation, George never takes responsibility for his action. When you ask him about does he regret having a gun, does he regret getting out of the car -- he doesn’t regret any of that. Those are things that he did, so those are the things that brought about what happened later that night.”
Regarding Zimmerman’s account of what happened the night on February 26th, Parks said that it’s important to remember that Zimmerman was in a car and if he never got out of the vehicle then he would have never encountered Martin, who was walking. He added, “So for him to make Trayvon out to be the perpetrator, we don’t buy it.”
Hannity asked Parks, how a guilty verdict would be rendered in this case if Zimmerman is claiming self defense and given the evidence that is currently public. Parks said that Martin did nothing wrong and most reasonable people will see that. He went on to say that Martin was provoked and the 911 tape where Zimmerman says he’s following Martin is evidence that, “if this guy was stalking him and this guy is armed, [Martin] should’ve been beating him … he was trying to save his life.”
