President Too Busy To Meet With the Jobs Council?
Jobless claims in America are up by 34,000, but the President's Council on Jobs has not met in more than six months! White House Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that there is no specific reason for a meeting not taking place, but rather that, “the president has a lot on his plate.”
Simon Rosenberg, President and founder of the New Democratic Network, and Marc Thiessen, a fellow with the American Enterprise Institute, joined Megyn Kelly on America Live earlier for a heated debate on how the president is handling unemployment in America.
Thiessen said, “President Obama has gone on 10 golf outings and 100 fundraisers during the past six months, but he hasn’t met with the business council once, and there is none scheduled. And part of the reason is, I think, that he has been out there demonizing them.”
While Rosenberg agreed that Carney flubbed his response, he said, “This basic argument that Obama has been hostile towards business is just silly.” Rosenberg claimed that the stock market and corporate profits are both near all-time highs, and agreed with President Obama that the corporate sector of the United States is doing pretty well.
Rosenberg said, “We need to move on to have a real debate about what we need to do to fix the economy.”
