Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates held a news conference moments ago, and confirmed that the suspect in this morning’s tragic shooting is James Eagan Holmes, born on 12/13/1987. Within moments of the shooting, hundreds of calls came into 911. Within a minute and a half, police responded, apprehending the suspect who had three weapons in his possession at the time.
He reported that 71 people were shot in the massacre, 12 are deceased. Two died at area hospitals, and 10 bodies remain at crime scene.

He was dressed all in black, was wearing a ballistic helmet, a tactical ballistic vest, ballistic leggings, a throat protector and a groin protector, and a gas mask. The suspect’s home remains booby trapped; five buildings in the surrounding area have been evacuated as police work to disarm the traps.
